Pilots in Action: 3R House location pinned

We’re kicking off our on-site series in Belgrade 🇷🇸, where the team from University of Belgrade, Faculty of Civil Engineering is preparing ground for the 3R Modular Pilot House – built on the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Construction will begin at the end of 2025, using local waste materials to build a fully dismountable, modular structure.

This pilot aims to demonstrate scalable, circular solutions for the Balkan construction sector, which continues to rely on traditional methods with limited environmental consideration.

The house will feature:

– Sustainable concrete made with 100% recycled aggregate and fly ash

– Reusable steel frames

– Earthquake-resistant masonry walls with rubber seismic isolation

– Optimised design for easy disassembly and relocation

Led by University of Belgrade, Faculty of Civil Engineering, the project combines innovative research with real-world application – providing much-needed guidelines and hands-on evidence for circular building practices in Southeast Europe.

Stay tuned as we follow the progress on-site!
