From 9th to 15th September the World Green Building Council is celebrating World Green Building Week #WGBW24. This year, WorldGBC is inviting us to take steps towards a better future with the #BuildingTheTransition campaign, through three key principles: Reduce. Decarbonize. Adapt.
Within #WGBW24, Serbia Green Building Council, a Circ-Boost partner, has organised a two-day National Conference in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, to showcase the good practices and local solutions supporting these three principles towards sustainable construction on a global level.
The Conference’s first day was dedicated to the forum “Advancing the Circular Economy within the Construction sector: Challenges and Opportunities”, organised jointly by three sister projects: Circ-Boost, Reconstruct and Woodcircles, united through the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative.
The forum was dedicated to exploring how innovators across Europe are applying circular economy principles to the construction sector to significantly reduce its environmental and climate impact, as well as highlighting the work of the three European projects that are addressing these complex issues.
Through panel discussions and lightning talks, we explored different perspectives on achieving EU policy objectives, showcased innovations in circular construction and how innovators are harnessing the power of digital technologies to transform the European construction landscape with innovative tools and platforms, and focused on the benefits of circular solutions and how they can impact all actors along the construction value chain.
Speakers from WorldGBC, the Norwegian GBC, the CCIS, the European Commission, innovators from Serbian sustainable companies, as well as project representatives from the three host projects offered us their unique perspectives on challenges & opportunities of adoption of circular solutions, and their impact on local and common needs.
The Circ-Boost, Reconstruct and Woodcircles partners are thankful to Serbia GBC, WorldGBC and the CCIS for the immaculate organisation and this valuable opportunity for further collaborations towards advancing the circular solutions and adoption of circular economy principles.
